Your Details
We just need a few basics to get started.
1.8m Colorbond boundary fence in Monument along a Gold Coast backyard

1.8m boundary run in Monument. Capped posts at 2.4m bays, sawtooth infill, plinth to the ground.

The outcome

One straight line, and you stop thinking about it

A Colorbond fence is the one job on the property you do once. Here is what that actually looks like a few years in.

Still dead straight

Concrete-set posts and a plinth that follows the ground. No leaning bays, no gap under the bottom rail where the dog gets out.

The neighbour stopped bringing it up

A shared boundary fence that looks right from both sides ends the conversation. Same colour, same finish, no favoured side.

No paint, no oil, no rust streaks

The Colorbond coating does the work. A hose-down once a year and the fence looks the way it did the week we left.

The range

Start with the colour

Three colours do most of the work on the Gold Coast. Tap one and it carries through to your estimate, gates and posts included.

Colorbond fence in Monument, Gold Coast install

Monument

Most popular

Near-black charcoal. The colour that reads as one clean dark line behind a rendered home, and the one most Gold Coast builders spec against dark window frames and a dark roof.

Best for: Rendered homes, dark rooflines, modern builds
Colorbond fence in Woodland Grey, Gold Coast install

Woodland Grey

A grey with green in it. Against planting it stops being a fence and becomes a background, which is exactly what you want down a garden boundary you look at every day.

Best for: Leafy blocks, garden boundaries, acreage
Colorbond fence in Basalt, Gold Coast install

Basalt

Mid cool grey, a couple of steps lighter than Monument. Holds its own against lighter render, face brick and concrete without the hard black contrast.

Best for: Brick, light render, concrete driveways

Or pick from the rest of the range

Every colour is the same rate per metre. Colour is a looks decision, never a budget one.

Swatches are the official COLORBOND® steel digital colour values. Screens vary, so we bring the physical chart to the measure.

Heights and build

Five heights, level or raked

Bays run at 2.4m between posts. Sheets are the sawtooth infill profile, rails top and bottom, capped posts throughout.

1.2m

Front and garden runs

Low boundary and garden division work where you still want to see over. Two rails, capped posts.

1.5m

Side boundaries

The middle height. Common down the side of a block where 1.8m would feel like a tunnel.

1.8m
Most common

Standard boundary

What most Gold Coast boundary fences are. Full privacy, and the height the Dividing Fences Act conversation usually lands on.

2.0m

Extra privacy

Stepping up to a 50mm RHS steel post and three rails. For neighbour overlook, pool aspects and busy streets.

2.1m
Approval needed

Maximum height

65mm RHS posts, three rails. On a boundary fence, over 2m needs your neighbour on board, and we will tell you that before you order.

Raked
No stepped gaps

Follows your ground

On a fall we rake the panels to the slope instead of stepping them, so there is no triangle gap under the bottom rail.

Colorbond fence raked to follow a sloping Gold Coast backyard, no stepped gaps

Sloping blocks

Raked, not stepped

On a fall, the cheap way is to step each bay down and leave a triangle of daylight under every panel. That is where the dog gets out and where the leaves blow through. We rake the sheets to the slope so the fence follows your ground the whole way. It takes longer on the day and it is the difference you look at for the next twenty years.

Sound familiar?

If any of these are you, you’re in the right place

Nine times out of ten, this is why people go looking for Colorbond fencing on the Gold Coast.

The storm took out three panels and the rest is on borrowed time.

Patching one bay of a tired timber fence buys a season. New Colorbond over the same run is usually less than two rounds of repairs.

The neighbour wants to split it and we can’t agree on what to build.

Colorbond is the fence most Dividing Fences Act conversations settle on, because it is the sufficient standard. We quote it so both sides can see the number.

Half the palings are grey and the bottoms have rotted out.

Once the base of a hardwood fence goes, the rest follows within a couple of wet seasons. Steel has nothing down there to rot.

The old fence steps down the slope and the dog goes under it.

Stepped panels leave a triangle at every post. We rake the sheets to the fall instead, so the fence sits on the ground the whole way.

We’re close to the water and everything rusts.

Salt air is a coating problem, not a steel problem. We spec the right Colorbond finish for a coastal block and set the posts so water cannot sit in them.

The house is going on the market next month.

The fence frames every listing photo of the yard. A new run in Monument or Woodland Grey lifts the whole frame for less than a styling package.

The maths

The cheapest fence you only buy once

Colorbond lands under PVC up front and under timber over a decade, because timber is never really finished: there is always the next stain, the next rotted post, the next storm repair. Steel is the one line item on the property that stays where you put it.

Why A-One

Gold Coast’s Colorbond crew

Colorbond is easy to install badly and it shows within a year. Everything below is what separates a fence that stays straight from one that does not.

QBCC Licensed 15249899

Fully licensed and insured Queensland builder. Verifiable on the QBCC register before you commit a cent.

Concrete-Set Posts, Every Time

Every post goes into a proper concrete pier. The number one reason a steel fence leans in year three is a shortcut footing.

Raked to the Slope

On a fall we rake the panels to follow the ground rather than stepping them. Slower to install, no gaps to look at afterwards.

Genuine Colorbond Steel

Real BlueScope Colorbond sheets, rails and posts, not a look-alike import that chalks off in two summers.

Built for Coastal Wind

Post spacing and footing depth set for exposed Gold Coast blocks, not a flat inland minimum.

Any Colour, Same Price

Posts, rails, caps and gates all finished in your colour. Choosing Monument over Surfmist never changes the rate.

Gates Matched to the Fence

Pedestrian, double swing and sliding gates in the same colour and profile, hung on hardware that suits the weight.

Local Gold Coast Crew

Same family team from quote through install. No subcontractor pass-offs, no fly-in fly-out installers.

Estimate Back in the Hour

Most estimates land in your inbox within business hours, not next week. Speed matters when you have already decided.

Gates

Matching gates, hung properly

Same colour, same profile as the fence. Hinges, latches and posts sized to the leaf so the gate still closes in five years.

Colorbond double swing driveway gate in Monument, matched to the boundary fence

Pedestrian Side Gate

0.95m wide standard, posts, hinges and latch included. Keyed-alike locks available so the side gate matches the rest of the house.

Double Swing Driveway

Two leaves for openings up to 2.5m, or the large kit for 2.4m to 4.5m. Manual, or motorised if you want it off the remote.

Sliding, Manual or Motorised

Track-mounted sliders for tight frontages, manual or with a 240v or low-voltage motor. Solar drive for acreage with no power at the gate.

Old timber fence was falling apart after the storms. New Colorbond went up in a day and a half and it looks like it belongs to the house.

Split the cost with the neighbour and A-One handled both sides of the conversation. Monument was the right call, you barely notice it now.

Coomera, Gold Coast

Block falls away at the back and every other quote wanted to step it. These guys raked it properly so it follows the ground. Neat job.
